Control of Vapour Emissions from Aboveground Storage Tanks

23rd-24th August 2018 Mumbai

Course Description

Course Description for Control of Vapour Emissions from Storage Tanks

Description of the various types of storage tanks – External Floating Roof Tanks – Fixed Roof Tanks - how they are constructed and the circumstances for using each type of tank.
Description of the essential equipment on each type of tanks and explanations of what they do-
• aluminum dome roofs
• aluminum internal floating roofs – pontoon and full contact
• primary and secondary seal systems for internal and external floating roof tanks
• roof drain systems for external floating roof tanks
• floating suction units for fixed roof tanks
To cover all of the above topics and the total presentation in two days we can split as follows

Who should attend:
Individuals who have engineering, inspection, maintenance, and/or management responsibilities related to aboveground atmospheric storage tanks that store hydrocarbon liquids.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Become more aware of the different TYPES of tanks available for the storage of hydrocarbon liquids, how these TYPES of tank operate and the reason for choosing a TYPE.
  • Explanation of the Aluminum Dome Roof and where this TYPE of roof is applicable - pros and cons of specifying this TYPE of roof - how the roof is manufactured, erected and maintained.
  • Explanation of the various TYPES of Internal Floating Roof - where they are applicable - how they control the emission of vapour from the tanks - pros and cons of specifying this TYPE of roof - how the roof is manufactured, erected and maintained.
  • Explanation of Rim Gap Seal Systems, i.e. Primary and Secondary Seals - the main TYPES of seals - where they are applicable - pros and cons of specifying each TYPE of seal - how the seals are manufactured, installed and maintained.
  • Explanation of the Types Roof Drain Systems available for external floating roof tanks - various TYPES, pros, and cons of specifying each TYPE - how the various Systems are manufactured, installed and maintained.
  • Explanation of Floating Suction Units and difference with a Skimmer Unit - how they are manufactured, installed and maintained.
